Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition to catalyse sustainable energy transition

KUCHING: The upcoming Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition 2024 is set to be a significant milestone in the global pursuit of a greener and more sustainable energy landscape.

“Sarawak, aiming to become a pioneer in the green hydrogen economy in the Asia Pacific region, is committed to leading the transition to blue hydrogen and eventually achieving the goal of green hydrogen for a sustainable future.

“Sarawak’s abundant renewable resources, available capacity, human capital, and technological advancements, which position the state favourably for the energy transition,” Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Dr Hazland Abang Hipni highlighted on Thursday (May 18).

He emphasised Sarawak’s potential to lead the hydrogen economy in the Asia Pacific region and become a global hub for advanced technology, products, equipment, and solutions in the hydrogen sector.

The press conference for the upcoming event was held at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN), where Dr Hazland Abang Hipni expressed that “developing a green hydrogen economy will not only attract multinational companies and investments but also benefit Sarawak’s tourism industry, generate economic spin-offs, and gain international recognition.”

Nadzeem Abd Rahman, the organising chairman and director of Borneo Business Connect (BBC) Sdn Bhd, emphasised the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in driving the green hydrogen revolution forward.

“The conference and exhibition aim to provide a dynamic platform for stakeholders to come together, foster partnerships, and engage in cross-sectoral dialogue.

“Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful discussions, explore collaborations, and identify innovative solutions to advance the green hydrogen industry.”

Organized by BBC Sdn Bhd and supported by the Ministry for Energy and Environmental Sustainability and Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), the conference is scheduled to take place from June 11 to 13, 2024, at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

The event is expected to attract 100 exhibitors, 500 conference delegates, and 4,000 trade visitors. It will serve as a launchpad for new projects, investments, and partnerships that will drive the growth of the green hydrogen industry in the Asia Pacific region.
