KUCHING (March 3): The Hydrogen Economy Forum 2025 (H2EF2025), to be taking place this May 13 and 14 at Hilton Kuching, will bring together global experts, industry leaders and policymakers to explore the transformative potential of the hydrogen economy in Southeast Asia and beyond.

Organised by Borneo Business Connect Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty) and supported by Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), the forum is expected to draw investors, industry professionals and stakeholders into discussions of the future of the hydrogen economy.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the opening ceremony.

“The H2EF2025 is more than just a forum – it is a catalyst for change. As a prelude to the Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition in 2026, Sarawak is positioning itself as a leader in the hydrogen economy.

“This platform will drive collaboration and knowledge-sharing, shaping the future of clean energy in our region and beyond,” said Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni in a statement.

Adding on, he said with the world now accelerating the transition to clean energy, hydrogen had emerged as a cornerstone of sustainable development.

“Thus, H2EF2025 will play a key role in fostering collaboration, innovation, and investment in the hydrogen sector.

“The delegates will have the opportunity to engage with industry pioneers, gain insights into cutting-edge technologies, and explore actionable strategies for the region’s energy transition.

“With over 300 participants, including chief executive officers (CEOs), policymakers, researchers, manufacturers, and investors from around the world, all attendees will hear from renowned speakers and thought leaders at the forefront of the hydrogen economy and explore investment opportunities in hydrogen production, storage, and distribution.”

The forum would also provide a comprehensive understanding of the region’s role in the global hydrogen market and how Sarawak meant to position itself as a leading innovator and hub for Southeast Asia, said Dr Hazland.
